Spinach - 1 bunch finely chopped

Potatoes - 2 boiled and peeled

Onions - 1 finely chopped

Tomatoes - 1 finely chopped

Chillies - 3 - 4 slit into halves

Ginger - 1 inch piece

Chilli powder to taste

Garam masala - 1 tablespoon

Turmeric - 1 teaspoon

Wheat flour - 1 teaspoon

Ghee - 4 tablespoons

Asafoetida - 2 pinches

Salt to taste

Methods/steps

Boil spinach, chillies in a bowl by adding few drops of water for 5 - 10 mts.

Cool the spinach and blend into a slight coarse paste and keep aside.

Slice the potatoes into small pieces.

Take a kadai and add the ghee.

Fry the onions, ginger till onions turn golden brown.

Now add tomatoes, chilli powder, garam masala, turmeric and fry them for 5 mts till the oil oozes out.

Add spinach and aloo and bring to boil.

Add the flour and cook for another 2 - 3 mts.

Add lemon juice and asafoetida.

Serve Aloo palak hot with chapathis or parathas/
