Chicken Thokku Pachadi

Delicious chicken pickle made by smashing fried chicken pieces with spices in a mortar. Had its special aroma and all non-veg lovers thrives to have it more and more on their plates.

Preparation is same as mango thokku pachadi.

For Chicken

Boneless chicken - 500 gms

Egg

Corn flour

Maida

Chilli sauce

Soy sauce

Ajinomoto

Chilli powder

White pepper

For Pickle

Mustard seeds - 4 tablespoons

Fenugreek seeds - 1 tablespoon

Red chillies - 20 depending upon spicy levels

Salt

For Seasoning

Mustard seeds - 1 tablespoon

Zeera - 1 tablespoon

Curry leaves - few

Methods/steps
1)

Making Chicken

  • Cut the chicken into small pieces and keep aside.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of cornflour, 1 tablespoon of maida, 3 teaspoons of chilli sauce, 1 teaspoon of soy sauce, pinch of ajinmoto, sufficient chilli powder and salt in a bowl.
  • Mix all the ingredients into a thick paste by adding beaten egg.
  • Dip the chicken pieces.
  • In a kadai add sufficient oil for deep frying.
  • Once heated add the chicken pieces and deep fry on high flame for 3 mts. Make sure the pieces are crispy.
  • Keep the fried pieces aside.

Making Powder

  • Fry mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds and red chillies in a pan without oil.
  • Do not over fry them since taste turns bitter.
  • Once fried make into a nice powder and keep aside.

3)

Making Chicken Thokku Pachadi

  • Take a mortar and pestle.
  • Add the chicken pieces, prepared pickle powder and salt.
  • Mash them properly by mixing all the ingredients.
  • Do not over mash the pieces.
  • In a separate pan add sufficient oil.
  • Add mustard seeds, zeera, curry leaves and pinch of hing.
  • Add the pickle to the oil and cook for one more minute.
  • Delicious Chicken thokku pachadi is ready and goes well with rice.
