Delicious shrimp/prawn recipe flavored with tamarind paste. Mix of sourness and spices makes this dish into a mouth watering dish and whoever likes it will never leaves till the dish is over.

Shrimp/Prawn - 1 cup peeled and cooked

Fresh tamarind - 4 pieces

Chillies - 7 - 8 slit into halves

Onions - 1 big nicely chopped

Ginger garlic paste - 1 tablespoon

Turmeric

Salt

Oil

Methods/steps
1)

Tamarind Paste

  • Peel the shell off the fresh tamarind pieces.
  • Soak in the water.
  • Make a fine paste by adding little salt and keep aside.

Making Shrimp

 

  • In a kadai add 5 - 6 tablespoons of oil
  • Heat the oil and add onions and chillies.
  • Fry them till onions turn brown and add ginger garlic paste. Fry till raw smell leaves.
  • Now add tamarind paste and fry for a minute.
  • Now add the cooked shrimp, turmeric, sufficient salt and glass of water.
  • Cook till the gravy thickens.
  • Garnish with coriander and delicious shrimp curry with tamarind (chinthakaya royyalu ) is ready.

 

Additional Tips

One can add chillies depending upon the spicy level one can afford to have.
