Semiya (Vermicelli) Upma

Traditional upma style made with Semiya instead of sooji. Goes well for Breakfast. Serve with Peanut Chutney.

Semiya (Vermicelli) - 1/2 packet

Onions - 1 finely chopped

Tomatoes - 1/2 finely chopped

Ginger - 5 small pieces mashed

Chillies - 3 -4, Slit chillies into two halves

Turmeric - 1 pinch

Salt

Oil

Methods/steps

Take a big pan. Add and heat sufficient oil.

Fry the chopped onions, Chillies and chopped garlic. Fry till the onions turn golden brown.

Now add chopped tomatoes and fry for another 3 - 4 mts. Add turmeric too.

Now add the semiya (vermicelli) and fry till semiya turns little brown.

Meanwhile take 10 cups of water in a seperate bowl and bring to boil.

Once the semiya turns brown, add the boiled water and cook for 5 - 10 mts under low flame.

Garnish with coriander and serve hot with Peanut chutney.
